How To Decorate A Bathroom

December 6th, 2009 No comments

One of the rooms in many houses that tends to be passed over for decorating is the bathroom.[1] Bathrooms may seem may suggest more of a utilitarian than aesthetic purpose, but they should still project an inviting, attractive image. The bathroom is the easiest room in your house to re-decorate, not to mention the cheapest. Here are a few tips for decorating your bathroom.

1.Make sure the bathroom stays clean. No matter how beautiful your bathroom is decorated , the greatest destroyer is dirty, dirty toilets not only affect the appearance and comfortbal, more serious is affecting your family’s health. This probably means a weekly scrubbing of the toilet, shower, tub, and sink. A clean room is the first step toward making it appealing to others.

2.Choose a coordinating color scheme. Paint your walls in a color to match one of the colors in the shower curtain pattern. You don’t want a pink bathroom if all the bedrooms are blue, for example. These can be towels of all different colors or towels in a similar color scheme. Just choose whatever will look the nicest in your bathroom.

3.Keep the fixtures in the same or a similar style. This may sound simple when first building and furnishing a home, Basket of decorative soaps and lotions – If you have an extra basket around the house, consider putting it to good use by filling it with decorative soaps and lotions. Add accessories as the final touch. Accessories like toothbrush holders, tissue holders, and a soap dispenser can be the icing on the cake, so don’t be too frugal when you select the style. “A collection of small mirrors finished in decorative frames adds glamour to your bathroom. They also reflect light to make the space appear brighter and larger.

A bathroom sends an important message to guests about the degree to which you value them and look to their comfort. By purchasing a few materials and using a lot of ingenuity, you’ll be able to decorate your bathroom to make it fit for a queen or king, right down to the royal throne.

My Best Bathroom Decorating Tips

November 26th, 2009 No comments

During recent years, bathrooms have increased in size and this has meant new decoration techniques have been developed. This room can now be more attractive and one that you will be proud of. It is probably because we all take longer in this room than we used too, so employing a few bathroom decorating ideas to liven it up makes it all that more enjoyable. Gone are the days when a bath or shower was a rushed affair; we all want to enjoy the experience so why not do this in a pleasant surrounding.
If you add the opportunity to show off your bathroom decorating ideas a little to your neighbors then it suddenly seems more worthwhile. The kitchen used to be another place that wasn’t a high priority but all that has changed as the average family spends more time there so why not the bathroom as well.
You may want to carry over bathroom decorating ideas and styles you have used in the rest of your home. For example, if a nice low table looks good in the hallway, it will look positively elegant in the bathroom. If you have a table with a shelf underneath, why not place a few selected magazines of books on there to really set the tone.
On the other hand, if you find you have ideas that work well in the bathroom, why not see if they work in other rooms in your home. Tiles are a prime example of this type of reverse decoration as they can be used almost anywhere and are not restricted to just a few rooms where they are traditionally found.
If a bathroom tile has a particular pattern there are many places where it could be used to augment the feel of the home including the kitchen. Whilst it is the tiling aspect that tends to dominate kitchens and bathrooms, there are many other bathroom decorating ideas that can be used.
Simple things that often get overlooked but can be visually appealing are soap dispensers and soap dishes. There are even articles in home decoration books and magazine illustrating how easy it is too make your own soap rays.
One uncommon design for a soap tray was to make it by hand out of clay, which you must admit is quite novel. I have always found that even if you do nothing else, a relaxing picture, perhaps of woodland, lake or seashore can make a great deal of difference to a bathroom. With the materials and information available today, there is no excuse not to turn your bathroom into something very special.

Quick Bathroom Decorating Tips

August 19th, 2009 No comments

Need some ideas to spice up your bathroom? Does it look cold and empty like a public school bathroom? Nothing but the toilet sink, walls, mirror, and a few towels? Trust me. That’s not impressing anyone or anything.

Often overlooked in decorating, the bathroom is in truth one of the more visited rooms in the house. With people spending an average of 45 min. a day using it, showering, and primping, why should you ever even think about leaving it bare?

There are a few simple things that I’ve learned throughout my years of being an apartmentite that really help turn a boring bathroom into a rich, resilient restroom. Pick a Theme- Schultz went with a Superman theme in his bathroom and it actually looks really great. It helped him easily narrow down a color scheme to red and blue with accents of yellow. All of the matching and color picking had already been done for him, he just had to go with something he liked. Superman it was. Combining a blue shower curtain and rugs with red bath towels and a yellow hand towels, this theme can appeal to anyone. Throw up a few framed classic Superman comics and a retro Superman toothbrush if you want to really push the theme and suddenly you have a extremely fun bathroom.

Picking a theme is an easy idea for anyone to incorporate fun and flavor to their water closet. So find something you lilke…be it a sports team, a movie, or anything else…pick it…analyze the colors and go!Keep It Clean- Always keep your bathroom clean and clutter free. Keep the clutter off the counter. Find a hiding place for your brushes, cologne, make-up, hair products, etc. It looks good to no one to walk in and see piles of make-up on one side of the sink, medicine bottles and hairspray on the other, dirty clothes on the floor, and an over-flowing waste basket. And if you have chosen that to be your theme….you should choose another. Oh..most importantly…keep the toilet sparkling and the TP on the TP holder. What good does the empty cardboard roll do for you or your guests? Don’t just leave the new roll on the back of the toilet and wait for a guest to do your work for you. Remember, guests don’t just see the living room and kitchen…they also see the bathroom, so keep it clean and clutter free.Candles, Dispensers, and Other Fine Things- Want something neat on your counters? Try a few candles with cool candle holders. Also, don’t just use the disposable soap dispenser. Instead, buy a cool soap dispenser that goes along with your theme and refill the soap as needed. Matching soap dispensers and toothbrush holders always look great. A picture frame with one of your favorite 4×6’s could work great on the counter as well. It may be cliche’, but a novelty or funny book in the bathroom is always a great idea.

No matter what. Quit forgetting about or putting off the bathroom decoration. When you visit other bathrooms, take notes, see what you like and don’t like about them. Then apply that to your own. Have fun and I hope reading this didn’t make you …flushed.

Can You Find A Completely White Or White With Brass Bathroom Liquid Soap Dispenser?

August 3rd, 2009 3 comments

I want a soap dispenser that will sit on my bathroom sink. I have not been able to find one that would match my bathroom. I have a mostly white bathroom with touches of mint and brushed brass fixtures. Most soap dispensers I have found have chrome tops or come with a design. 10 points to whoever can find one online. Thanks.
